JohnAnthony You're welcome. It is a joint effort by several people. How has the information on the future of mankind website helped you over the years?

James, Great idea since the Figu Forum closed.

Thank you, James.
As Norm said: Your website is really a great help., esp. now when the Figu website is closed.

Can one just post an article in this section?

BLS You can post anything that you like as long as it is related to FIGU of course.

    Hello everyone,

The black background is very hard on the eyes. I would suggest a light or "clean" background so it's easy on the eyes.
    Salome

The design is great and easy to overview. I would have a dark forum mode that is easy for me to read and saves battery with OLED. Is this forum have an option for dark mode?

marxo126 yes it has either a dark or light mode but I think it is a global setting that affects everyone. Can you set it for yourself to dark mode ? (try click your user icon to find the settings)

Looks great James. I'd love to help out with moderation but at the moment I'm up to my eyeballs with work and kids. Does it take much time daily?

Kate1972 The reasons were as follows (message copy/pasted from FIGU Forum) :

          Posted on Tuesday, February 07, 2023 - 10:54 am:
          Dear Forum Members,

I wanted to convey information that I received from Christian Frehner today. This past weekend the Core Group voted on shutting down all FIGU Forums. This was due to problems with the email notification system and other factors which couldn't be solved. These problems started surfacing last November as work began on updating the email servers, which I believe was connected to the process of updating the website in the future. Consequently, due to the low volume of posts and lack of activity in the last few years, a decision was made to shut all the forums down.

I responded to Christian by asking him whether we could retain one section for general FIGU information ie; (FIGU Misc) which could be used for posting info about new CR translations and or upcoming books etc..I also stated that many people prefer the forum vs FB and other social media because it provides a more autonomous environment without ads etc...Although the forum would stay open for viewing, no new postings would be accepted.

If anyone would like to express their ideas about this, please contact me via my email at scott.baxter@forum.figu.org.

          Thank you and Salome
          Scott

Frankinmouse I don't imagine it will take much time at all since we are probably millenia ahead of most Earth humans in behaviour (seriously) so require little "moderation" πŸ™‚

Also , this forum doesn't require posts to be approved before they are seen.

What time zone are you in? I already have someone from Canada being a moderator but I think it would be good to have someone in all timezones eventually. However its just the beginning now so there are hardly any users at the moment.

              Hi Kate,

There were a few reasons I was told which led to the forum closing. The closure of the FIGU Forums was decided 3-4 years ago, although the actual date was never finalized as I understood it. Last NOV the FIGU email servers were upgraded which led to problems with people receiving email notifications when posting. Also I was unable to accept new members. Additionally, I was informed that the FIGU Website is being upgraded which should be done by the end of 2023. Also there will be the addition of a type of compendium which allows members to ask questions, which then myself or someone will seek to find an answer. I am not sure how that will work, but thats the latest from Christian Frehner.

James, will members be able to post links to YouTube (FIGU related) channels even though not an official FIGU Channel?

Thank you James, I sent out a few emails to ex-forum members letting them know about your Forum

              Salome

Scott That compendium sounds like a great idea to me. There is an encyclopedia category on the future of mankind website but it is incomplete. An official one would obviously be preferred and have fewer errors.

Anyone can post anything on this forum and it will be immediately visible. Then it is up to moderators to remove spam/undesirable/totally unrelated posts/ban spammers etc.
