I suppose if a person had no scientific education it could all seem as if a magic trick I guess. But even for a critically thinking religious person, they surely would ask how does anything come into being at some stage. Even a farty downdraft during a sermon ought to instigate some thoughts surrounding the periodicity of organic chemistry.
My reading of it is that their science is just the same as our science, same as taught in a classroom here, if its ok to say that I feel reasonably confident that our scientists are talking about the same things as they are, no grounds for complacency, I think you are right, the contact reports are saying what they are saying about reality it is ok.
